New Patients

What to expect at your first visit

No surprises. Plan on 30 minutes to 1 hour and 15 minutes for your first visit. Here is exactly what happens from the moment you book until you know your plan.

Your first visit, step by step

  1. 1

Watch your email for your paperwork

Well before your appointment, you will get two emails. One comes from our electronic health record system with the link to your forms. The other comes from our team with instructions, directions to the clinic, and your temporary password. Please finish all of your paperwork by the day before your appointment so our doctors have plenty of time to review it. If you are not able to complete it on a computer at home, call our team to arrange a time to come in and fill it out on our system with our help. You can come the day before your appointment so you are not rushed, or about one hour before your appointment.

  2. 2

Bring what helps us help you

Any imaging you have (X-rays or MRI reports), your insurance card, and your medication list if you did not add it to your forms. Wear clothing that lets us see and reach the area we are evaluating (see below).

  3. 3

    Check in and get settled

Our front desk team will welcome you, take a photo for your file, finish setting up your chart, take your vitals, and give you a quick tour of the clinic before taking you back to see the doctor.

  4. 4

    Consultation and initial evaluation

Unlike most offices, your doctor walks in prepared: your entire file already read, highlighted, and with questions ready. Then you talk through what is going on, and your doctor performs an evaluation based on your concern. The goal is to understand the cause and find out whether you are a good candidate for care. We only accept patients we believe we can help. If your evaluation shows we're not the right fit, we'll tell you honestly and point you in the right direction.

  5. 5

Trial treatment or further testing, if needed

In some cases, we do a trial treatment right after the exam to see how your body responds to different forms of care. Some patients also need additional testing. Sometimes that happens the same day, and sometimes we schedule it for a separate visit. It depends on what your case needs.

  6. 6

    Your report of findings

We sit down with you to go over every test and finding, then walk you through a plan of action: what your care plan includes, what you do at home, and your insurance, cost, and payment options. You decide what is right for you.

About the paperwork

Yes, it is long. Here is why.

We are good at what we do because we ask all the questions. Your history, your symptoms, and your goals help us look for the cause instead of guessing. Unlike other doctors' offices, our team comes into your visit prepared, with your entire file read, highlighted, and questions ready. That only works if your paperwork is done by the day before your appointment.

What to bring and what to wear

Bring any imaging, your insurance card, and your medication list. Then dress so we can see and reach the area we are evaluating.

Back and neck patients

A tank top and shorts work best.

Neuropathy patients

Wear pants you can roll up above your knees, or shorts.

Knee patients

We need to see and touch your knee, so shorts are best.

SoftWave patients

Wear clothing that lets us reach the treatment area, such as a tank top for a shoulder.

Forgot? No problem. We have shorts and tops available at the clinic.

New patient questions

Why is the new patient paperwork so detailed?

Because we look for the root cause, we ask a lot of questions up front. It takes some time, and we know it is long, but those answers are a big part of why our evaluations are so thorough.

How do I fill out my new patient forms?

All forms are online through our electronic health record system. You will get two emails: one from the system with the link to your forms, and one from our team with instructions, directions, and your temporary password. Please finish everything by the day before your appointment. No computer access at home? Call (307) 369-1786 to arrange a time to complete your forms at the clinic with our team's help, either the day before your appointment so you are not rushed or about one hour before it.

What should I bring to my first visit?

Any imaging you have, your insurance card, your medication list if it is not already on your forms, and clothing that lets us see the area we are evaluating.

What should I wear?

Back and neck patients: a tank top and shorts. Neuropathy patients: pants you can roll above the knee, or shorts. Knee patients: shorts. If you forget, we have shorts and tops available at the clinic.

How long is the first visit?

Plan on 30 minutes to 1 hour and 15 minutes, depending on your condition and the testing you need.

How much is the first visit?

Your first visit is a $47 consultation and initial evaluation at our Cheyenne clinic. Depending on what we find, some patients benefit from an advanced exam or a trial treatment. If that is the case for you, we will explain why and go over the cost with you first. A Functional Medicine Consultation with Dr. J is $99 and takes about one hour.

Do you accept insurance?

Yes, we accept insurance. Some services are covered and some are not, depending on the cause of your problem and your care plan. We go over your coverage, costs, and payment options at your report of findings, before you start care.

Will I start treatment on the first day?

Sometimes. In some cases, we do a trial treatment right after the exam to see how you respond to different forms of care. Your full care plan is explained at your report of findings.
